The difference

Why choose an oral surgeon for your implants?

Most general practices refer surgical work elsewhere. At The York Dental Suite, your treatment is overseen by an oral surgeon at every stage.

One surgeon, every stage

From your first consultation and digital planning through to surgery and your final restoration, one clinician oversees the whole journey.

Advanced surgical training

A Diploma in Dental Implantology and an MSc in Oral Surgery, Dental Implantology and Prosthodontics, with further education in the USA and across Europe.

Comfort-first techniques

A special interest in minimally invasive surgery, soft tissue management and laser-assisted treatments, with a strong focus on patient comfort.

Complex cases considered

Told you don't have enough bone? Bone grafting may make implants possible, so it's always worth having the conversation.

Dr Maria Cobo

Oral Surgeon

Maria qualified as a dentist in Madrid in 2009 and moved to the UK in 2010, where she has developed extensive experience in oral surgery, dental implantology and restorative dentistry.

With a particular interest in dental implants, bone regeneration and complex surgical procedures, Maria is passionate about providing high-quality care tailored to each patient's individual needs.

Maria believes that every patient is unique and that treatment should never follow a one-size-fits-all approach. She combines clinical precision, evidence-based techniques and modern technologies, including laser dentistry and platelet-rich fibrin (PRF), where clinically appropriate, to support healing and achieve the best possible outcomes.

Understanding that dental surgery can feel daunting, Maria takes time to listen, explain treatment options clearly and ensure her patients feel comfortable, informed and confident throughout their treatment journey.

Her approach combines advanced clinical skills with a gentle, compassionate manner, focusing on restoring not only oral health and function, but also patients' confidence and quality of life.

How it works

Your implant journey

  1. Consultation & assessment

We talk through your goals and health, and assess your teeth, gums and jawbone, including 3D imaging where needed.

  2. Digital planning

Your treatment is planned digitally, so every stage is mapped out with precision before surgery.

  3. Surgery

Your implants are placed under local anaesthetic, with your comfort looked after throughout.

  4. Healing & aftercare

Your implant heals and fuses with the bone, then your custom-made restoration is fitted. Our team supports you with clear aftercare guidance throughout.

FAQs

Dental implant questions, answered

Am I suitable for dental implants?

Most adults in good general health with one or more missing teeth can be considered. You need enough jawbone to support the implant and healthy gums. Some medical conditions and medications can affect healing, so we assess everyone individually. If you've lost bone, grafting may help, so even if you've been told no elsewhere it's worth a conversation.

Are dental implants painful?

Treatment is carried out under local anaesthetic, so you shouldn't feel pain during the procedure. Some mild soreness or swelling for a few days afterwards is normal and can usually be managed with over-the-counter pain relief. We give you clear aftercare guidance.

I'm nervous about dental treatment. Can you help?

Yes. Our team is used to looking after nervous patients. Tell us about your worries when you book and we'll plan your care around them.

How long do dental implants last?

With good care, the implant that fuses with your jawbone is designed to be a long-term, lifelong solution. The crown on top may need replacing after ten to fifteen years through normal wear. Good oral hygiene and regular check-ups matter most.

How do I look after my implants?

Much like natural teeth: brush twice a day with a soft brush, floss around the implant and attend regular hygiene appointments and check-ups so we can monitor the implant and the bone around it.

How much do dental implants cost in York?

It depends on how many implants you need and the complexity of your case. As a guide, single dental implants start from £2,950. After your consultation you'll receive a personalised written quote, and interest-free finance options are available*.
